Ice Show - Frequently Asked Questions

Our Private Ice Skaters are all smiles after our final 2022-2023 "It's All Fun and Games" show! Shown here with special guest skaters, Michael Marinaro and Kirsten Moore-Towers and our head coach, Sonia Rivard.

What is our Annual Ice Show ?

Every year at the end of our season we celebrate and showcase the achievements of our skaters. We begin preparing at the beginning of the season. Costumes are typically ordered in November/December. A Picture Day is held in February and a two week practice period begins after March Break. Ice Show weekend is filled with excitement, friends and fun! Friday begins with an early morning practice for our Private Ice Skaters, followed by set-up - where we transform the arena! One final, whole club run through takes place on Friday and then it is on with the show! With a Saturday afternoon and evening performance, as well as a Sunday afternoon performance, the fun doesn't stop! We can't forget about our Family Party, held after the Saturday evening show. Ice Show is a Point Edward Skating Club tradition. Don't miss out!

Who is eligible to skate in the show?

Skaters in Pre-CanSkate and above are encouraged to participate in our Ice Show. It is a great way for skaters to show off their skills that they have worked hard on throughout the season.

What does Ice Show look like for Pre CanSkate?

Here is our "Game of Life" Pre CanSkate group from our 2022-2023 Ice Show "It's all Fun and Games!"

This group represented a variety of different careers!  Doctors, Firefighters, waiters, police officers and chefs!

  • These skaters attended three practices leading up to the show to perfect their routine.
  • Each skater who participates in Ice Show pays an initial 40.00 costume fee. Pre CanSkate participants are usually never charged more than the initial fee for their costume.
  • Skaters get to keep their costumes after the show (great for dress up and pretend play)
  • The Pre CanSkate group number is always FIRST in the show. You can decide as a family to stay for the rest of the show, or head home after a busy and exciting day
  • At the end of the Pre CanSkate performance our Program Assistants are on the ice to help and direct the Pre Can group back to the dressing room!
  • While we encourage participation in all three performances, we understand that it might not be possible at this age/ability level.

What does Ice Show look like for CanSkate?

Here are the "Race Car" and "Checkers" CanSkate groups from our 2022-2023 Ice Show "It's all Fun and Games!"

  • These skaters attended practices (once or twice a week) for two weeks leading up to the show to perfect their routine.
  • Each skater who participates in Ice Show pays an initial 40.00 costume fee. Sometimes a costume may be more than this amount. We try to keep all CanSkate costumes under $75.00
  • Skaters get to keep their costumes after the show (great for dress up and pretend play)
  • Some CanSkate group numbers take place in the first half of the show, and some take place in the second half. If your skater is in the first half you can choose to stay for the rest of the show or head home after a busy day.
  • CanSkaters must participate in all three shows. They learn a specific routine with their group.
