INTRODUCTION TO FIGURE SKATING / STAR 1 (CANSKATE STAGE 6)

Experience: Successfully passed Canskate Stage 5

This program is being offered as a transition into the Star program (private ice).  It offers an excellent opportunity for skaters to take part in a Star 1 (private ice) session that mimics a Jr private ice session on Tuesday, as well as an Open Freeskate session that will be guided by club coaches on Fridays, thus getting exposure to the shift to Jr Private Ice.  This Program has been designed to help both skaters and parents transition to private ice and away from Canskate/Starskate group sessions.  If you would like more information on this session, or to find out if it is a good fit for your skater, please reach out to Sonia Rivard.

STAR PROGRAM (PRIVATE ICE)

Skating in the Star program is the next step to take after STARSkate Stages 5 & 6.  Skaters are encouraged to move to our Star 1-2 sessions as they complete the Stage 6 Canskate requirements.

The Star Program levels are as follows:

Star 1-2 Junior 

Star 3-4 Intermediate

Star 5-Gold Senior (***must have completed Star 4 Freeskate assessment – to register in the Senior packages)

Although not required, many skaters in the Star program compete in several competitions throughout the season, and work on a skating program to showcase their skills.

Please note that skaters registered in the Star Program will receive private or semi-private coaching lessons from our coaches during their scheduled skating sessions. The length of the coaching sessions will vary, but typically range from 10-20 minutes per session, and coaching staff will schedule all sessions. Coaching will focus on the applicable spins, skills, dances and jumps, and it is a mandatory component for Star program skaters.

PLEASE NOTE:  Coaching fees for the above-noted private or semi-private lesson are in addition to the package registration fee, and Coaches issue invoices for payment to the skater’s family on a regular basis.  Payment for coaching fees is due upon receipt, and is to be given to the coach directly (cash, cheque or e-transfer).  IMPORTANT: Failure to pay coaching fees in a timely manner will result in the skater no longer being allowed to skate during the sessions he/she is registered in.  Fees are non-refundable.

SPIN SESSIONS: Coaching fee is not included in the package fee.

STROKING: Group coaching is included in the package fee.
